Wages : Apprenticeship hourly rates from 01/04/2024 apply-     
               - £6.40 basic rate for first year

                Then for the second year:

                - £8.60 age 18-20

                 -£12.00 age 21 or over

Term:    Term time only, 2 year contract to complete Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

Summary            

Hillside is a Special School & College for children and young adults with autism. Presently we have 108 students ranging from age 4 to 18 years. We encourage a happy and professional culture and seek highly energetic and motivated staff who embrace challenge. We believe in the uniqueness of every student and offer a personalised approach to teaching.

School support staff have the advantage of working term time only with salary paid over 12 equal months – perfect for parents of school age children or if you enjoy extended summer travels. We are seeking to appoint two Teaching Assistants to join our School. The successful apprentices will be supporting the class team to provide a safe, happy and well-disciplined learning environment, which enables our children to acquire a wide range of knowledge, skills and practical abilities. They will be involved in working with individuals or small groups of children to support their education, personal and social development of and establishing positive relationships to assist pupils complete structured learning activities. Duties may include, giving support to implement learning activities working with individual or small groups of pupils, support to assist the development of varying skills that support pupils' learning and support in producing learning resources.

The working pattern is Monday to Friday 9:00 to 15:30.

 

What you can expect from us:

·         Training and support is provided to all staff, this includes Safeguarding, Team Teach, Emergency First Aid. On the job training will include the use of Makaton and specialist computer programmes to produce resources.

·         Hillside staff have the benefit of free membership to the School's health and wellbeing services which include Wellbeing clinics, Nurse support services, GP phone & video consultations, Counselling and Physio programmes if there is a medical need.

 

 

What we expect from you:

·         A positive attitude to work within a dedicated class team.

·         The successful candidates will also be required to complete functional skills initial assessments in Maths, English and ICT. Maths, English and ICT functional skills must be completed as part of the apprenticeship, if GCSE C/4 has not previously been achieved.
