Class 7 2023 - 2024
Mrs Kelly Strickland
Welcome back to the Spring term 2024
Our topic this half term is ‘Water, water everywhere’. During Geography, the children will learn about the water cycle, exploring practical activities to develop their understanding of condensation, evaporation and precipitation. The theme will continue throughout our DT lessons, whereby the children will experiment with floating and sinking, investigating different materials and designing boats.
In our English and communication sessions we will be reading, ‘How to Catch a Mermaid’, by Adam Wallace, which is about a young girl and boy who create innovative traps to attract and trap a mermaid to be their friend.
During Maths, we will continue to develop our number skills while also expanding our understanding of money. We will begin to explore value through a variety of activities, including practical ‘shopping’ experiences.
Every day we will continue to work on our individual targets while also enjoying lots of fun and exciting ways to learn!
Key information
· PE will take place every Friday – The class will be attending gymnastics lessons delivered by a trained coach. Please send children in to school wearing appropriate clothing on this day.
· Please send in waterproofs and wellies, so we are always prepared for whatever the weather brings us. A spare set of clothes, including underwear and socks is also really useful.
· Snacks and/or lunch – Please make sure you have ordered a school lunch if appropriate.
· Please let us know if there are any issues or useful information that will help us to care for your child via email/chat book or phone call.
All the staff in class 7 are happy to answer any questions or queries you may have and will support you as best we can. Thank you!
