“Welcome to Class 9’s page!”
We are hoping for lots of sunshine for our Summer Term at Hillside, especially on our Den Building days at Forest School and for our Sports Day- fingers crossed!
- Forest School is every Wednesday morning this term- don’t forget your wellies and a spare change of clothes
- We are going to be cooking every Wednesday afternoon this term- don’t forget your ingredients
- Swimming is every Thursday morning this term- don’t forget your swim kit
Our Creative Curriculum topics are the Home Front and the USA. Through these themes we are developing skills in History, Geography, Design Technology, Food Technology, Music and Art.
In English, we are studying The Highwayman, as well as a selection of non-fiction texts and contemporary poetry. We are entering a nationwide Pet Poetry competition this half term and next half term we will be studying the life of Nelson Mandela.
We are developing our number and using & applying skills in Maths and will be enjoying lots of practical activities, focussed on measuring, statistics and using money.
This term’s Modern Foreign Language is Spanish. “Qué emocionante es aprender un nuevo idioma juntos!”
We are looking forward to our Den Building Day and other hands-on experiences at Forest School. Throughout the summer term we will be studying the wildlife which live in harmony with us in our beautiful surroundings and learning what we can do to help them thrive.
Every day we will be learning how to help our bodies and minds get ready for learning, using yoga, exercise, breathing techniques, mindfulness and play.
Throughout the term we will be completing AQA Unit Award Scheme modules in different subjects, including individual swimming AQA Awards. Look out for your son’s AQA achievement certificates!
Please keep us updated with any new information about your son and should you have any worries or concerns please feel free to contact us. Come and visit our page again soon, we will be updating it regularly.
Thank you for your continued support,
Christy and Sammy
